Herbarium: A herbarium is a critical resource for biodiversity, ecological and evolutionary research studies. It is a primary data source of dried and labeled plant specimens that is arranged to allow for easy retrieval access and archival storage. A herbarium (plural: herbaria) is a collection of preserved plant specimens and associated data used for scientific study. The specimens may be whole plants or plant parts; these will usually be in dried form mounted on a sheet of paper (called "exsiccatae") but, depending upon the material, may also be stored in boxes or kept in alcohol or other preservative.

The specimens in a herbarium are often used as reference material in describing plant some specimens may be types. Department of Botany, Yogi Vemana University, Kadapa is in collaboration with Botanical Survey of India (BSI) has initiated documentation on plant wealth of Eastern Ghats, India in the year 2008 and established herbarium in the Department of Botany, Yogi Vemana University (YVUH), Vemanapuram, Kadapa in YSR district. In this herbarium, around 2500 specimens are preserved collected from Eastern Ghats of India. The herbarium consists around 1000 species belonging to 150 genera under 120 families. The present information will be helpful for students and research scholars for plant identification.

Seed Bank: Seed Bank and museum established in the department of Botany comprises more than 600 wild plants seeds. Seeds are collected from trees, shrubs, bushes and perennials in the season and are processed and stored in the seed bank and exhibited for visitors. Major seed are collected from the forest areas located in and around YSR Kadapa District. The collected seeds are tested for its germination and also supplied to other departments on request.
