Department of Environmental Science was established in 2009, which offers both Post-Graduate (P.G) and Doctoral (Ph.D) programmes. The department was proposed to choose 30 M.Sc. students in every academic year and also Ph.D. students as per the UGC faculty guidelines. The course is in line with UGC guidelines and the syllabus is being updated in-accordance with latest Environmental Policies and needs.
The department has four permanent faculty members with diverse research interests like Environmental Biotechnology, Non-renewable energy, Environmental Chemistry, Solid waste management, Biodiversity conservation and Forest Ecology. The students are trained in both laboratory and field-based experiments to meet the needs of job opportunities in governmental and non-governmental organizations including industries. The approach is to make students understand and tackle environmental issues in a comprehensive and multidimensional ways and is encouraged to pursue higher studies in both national and international institutes.
The department has published around 100 research papers which include peer-reviewed journals. Further, the department faculty has completed seven research projects and one project on its way and students also undertake compulsory research projects in their final semester.
